Not to brag, but there are some seriously good perks to being the apprentice here at Lost Art Press. Endless free firewood, hilarious commentary on literally anything provided by Chris and Megan, cats….
Possibly my favorite perk, though, has to be getting first dibs on “blems” – aka blemishes. These are imperfect tools or books that don’t meet LAP standards; they are marked at 50 percent off and tossed on the “blem rack” for future customers. A steal.
I make it a point to scour the blem rack at least once or twice a week (as can you, any time you visit; I’m afraid these bargains are available only at the storefront). The “American Peasant” book with a missing title page? Mine. A weirdly dented Chairpanzee? Get in my pocket. And most recently, a lightly rusty Warrington-pattern Hammer. Hmm… I think I can salvage this one.
